Q: Are pilots available?

A: Yes. Although pilotage is not at present compulsory, certificated pilots are available on a 24 hour basis


Q: What is the harbour VHF?

A: 'Stornoway Harbour' Channels 16 and 12


Q: Are bonded stores available?

A: No bonded warehouse is available in Stornoway. But stores can be obtained from Aberdeen at four days' notice


Q: Are bunkers available?

A: Bunkers - available from BP Oil and Maclennan Oils – are delivered by road


Q: Are there regular flights to the mainland?

A: Twice daily (Mon to Fri) to Inverness and Glasgow. One flight on Saturdays to Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow


Q: Are there regular ferry links?

A: Yes. Stornoway to Ullapool once or twice daily (Mon to Sat) according to season


Q: HM Customs?

A: Stornoway is covered by the Customs office in Aberdeen


Q: Can I charter a tug?

A: There are no commercial tugs available


Q: What other services are available in Stornoway?

A: A wide range including potable water, ice, provisions, chandlery, electronic engineers, marine engineers, a modern general hospital, craneage, yacht pontoons, Coastguard SAR helicopter and Coastguard tug (ETV), RNLI Severn-class Lifeboat, interpreters, etc.
